The Wear Your Heart On Your Sleeve Fundraiser
OUR WHY
Heart disease and stroke is something that has effected both of our families with the loss of a Mother and a Father way before their time. This fundraiser is our way of honoring them and to give back to the foundation that will hopefully prevent and treat patients so that other families will not have to go through the loss of a loved one.

Partnering with some very talented local tattoo artists, we created the Wear Your Heart on Your Sleeve Fundraiser. This is to give people the opportunity to get a tattoo in memory of a loved one as well as a reminder to maintain a healthy lifestyle. All proceeds raised from this event will go directly to the Heart & Stroke Foundation to help fund medical breakthroughs in the prevention and treatment of heart disease and stroke.

Hi, I'm Jessica!
Creating this event was something I knew I had to do when I got a text from Stephanie at 3 am and all it said was "Wear Your Heart on Your "Sleeve" Tattoo Fundraiser!!" I instantly knew this 100% needed to happen.
This fundraiser is close to my heart as I lost my father in 1999 to a massive heart attack while he was doing what he loved, playing hockey. He was only 41 when he had his second heart attack which would have the worst outcome for myself and my family. At only 11 I didn't quite grasp how this would effect my life, and only into my late 20's did I really understand that heart health is something that I should be paying more attention to.
I want to spread awareness to everyone to make the changes now in order to prevent heart disease. With this fundraiser I hope to make an impact on how people look at heart health at any stage in life!

Hey there, I'm Stephanie!
The idea for this fundraiser was one of those middle of the night ideas where you wake up and look for a note pad to write something down before you forget it. I woke up with the words "wear your heart on your sleeve" in my head thinking how great that would be for a name for a tattoo fundraiser. With the help of some amazing people in my life this event started to take shape and I'm so excited to see it all become a reality.
This fundraiser means so much to me as I have a strong family history with heart disease and stroke. I lost my mom when she was 61 to a sudden massive heart attack and my Dad has survived 3 heart attacks and 2 mini strokes. All of this has led to a career as a cardiology technologist, a passion for heart health awareness and a want to pay tribute to loved ones by giving back to an amazing cause.
Cody Rawlinson
& The Old Crow Tattoo Parlour

Cody Rawlinson has been a tattoo artist for 10 years with his favorite style being large scale, full colour pieces. Throughout his career he has been involved in other flash tattoo events after the fires in Fort McMurray, as well as various cancer research projects. He began building the concept of his own shop in 2015 and The Old Crow Tattoo Parlour officially opened it's doors in spring of 2017. Located in Bridgeland, the atmosphere at The Old Crow is warm, inviting and comfortable. As a former 2 story home converted into a functional work space, it lends it's charm to feeling like "not your typical tattoo shop"
Cody has known Stephanie and Jessica for over 12 years. When they came to him and asked if he would be willing to help, it was easy for him to generously donate his shop and artist time to make their vision come to life.
